Environment

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is considered amongst the second highest group of nations worldwide that contribute to greenhouse gases. The current equivalent number of barrels of oil consumed range between 3 to 4 million a day, according to Aramco’s statistics this figure is estimated to double in the next 10 to 15 years.

Saudi Tabreed has been making strides to reduce this environmental impact and is proud to announce that our district cooling technology has helped to reduce the CO2 emission in 2013 by approximately 40,000 tonnes, but we expect to increase these figures in 2014 when three of our district cooling plants reach maximum capacity.

Projected Savings in CO2 Emissions 2014

“Flexibility of using different energy sources such as natural gas, electricity etc.”

Benefits

  • Flexibility of using different energy sources such as natural gas, electricity etc.
  • Improved efficiency reduces CO2 emission. Each 1 kWh used from Electric utility network produces 1.05 kg of CO2
  • Central plant room uses ozone friendly refrigerant such as HFC-134a. Leakage from one central plant is much lower than from many scattered plants or units.
